TypeCon 2001 will take place from July 13 through July 15. Workshops begin Friday morning and are held at the University of Rochester. Conference panels and presentations will begin Friday evening and run through Sunday afternoon. Conference sessions will take place in the Four Points Sheraton in downtown Rochester, New York.

TypeCon2001 is brought to you by the Society of Typographic Aficionados, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the study and promotion of type and typographically relevant topics.

 

Tom Phinney from Adobe will be giving a demonstration on the latest that Adobe has to offer OpenType font developers. He will give a hands on explanation of the improved Font Developers Tool Kit and the capabilities of OpenType in InDesign.

Ted Harrison from FontLab will be walking you through the ease of use of the latest font development software. FontLab is currently the only font creation software packages that is commercially supported.

These workshops will be offered Friday, July 13, prior to the conference. The workshops will be held in the computer labs at nearby University of Rochester. Seats are limited, so be sure to register early.



If you'd like your promotional material in the Conference Welcome Bags (Goodie Bags), there is a $50.00 handling fee. If you would like to donate items of typographical keepsake or an item of value and not intended for promotion or advertisement, those items can be added to the Welcome Bag at no charge.

Additionally, Niagara Falls is only 1 1/2 hours away by car, as well as casinos, Buffalo and the Roycrofters in East Aurora. The Albright Knox Museum is in Buffalo, featuring one of the finest collections of Modern and Pop Art in the Northeast.



Donations are being accepted for the Conference Auction. The Auction will be held Sunday afternoon (July 15). Auction Items should be of a typographically relevant nature and not advertising or promotional items, unless those items have significant value as historical or ephemeral keepsakes. Items can be donated up to 8 pm Saturday night before the Auction, with a preferred starting bid amount. Auction items not sold will be returned. All proceeds from the Auction go to SoTA. SoTA will issue a receipt for approximate values. Sponsors are highly encouraged to donate items to the auction.

Vendors Tables in the Vendor area are provided first come first serve. There are a limited number of tables available. Vendor Tables are $85/table for the duration of the conference. The tables are 6 foot tables, dressed in black and white. The vendor area will be locked each night. There is a $100 fee to the hotel for phone line hookup (credit card, internet access, etc.).



Advertising Space is availble in the Conference Program Guide in 1/4 page at $50.00, 1/2 page at $90.00, and full pages at $150.00. Ads must be submitted as an Illustrator EPS with fonts embedded or a Freehand EPS with fonts converted to outlines. Include a PDF or printed proof with file.
